Davide Monsorno is an engineer and technology leader working at the interface of advanced scientific research and industrial innovation. He is currently Senior Manager for Advanced Development at Röchling Automotive, where he has global responsibility for early-stage research in Propulsion and Battery Solutions, and coordinates the Materials and Applications Center of Excellence for injection molding. His work focuses on developing new product concepts, translating emerging technologies into industrial solutions, and building research strategies that connect scientific opportunities with product and business needs.
His technical background combines thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and computational modeling with practical engineering. He holds a PhD in Engineering Sciences (Thermodynamics and Fluid Mechanics) from Université catholique de Louvain, where his research addressed the modeling and simulation of fluid-saturated granular materials. He also holds an MSc in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Pisa and graduated in Industrial Engineering at Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies.
As part of his academic research, he developed a thermomechanical theory for granular suspensions and numerical methods for two-phase dilatant flows, including parallel high-performance computing implementations. Since moving into industry, he has led multidisciplinary advanced-development projects in thermal management, fluid control, electrification and lightweight structures. His work includes polymer and plastic-metal hybrid solutions for battery cooling, coolant valves, heat exchangers and other components for electric vehicles, encompassing physical and numerical modeling, prototype development and experimental validation.
His professional experience combines a foundation in computational engineering research with more than a decade of applied technology development. Across academic and industrial settings, he has worked on complex multiphysics systems, from the development of specific numerical methods to the design, prototyping and validation of new technology concepts. He has a longstanding commitment to industrial-academic collaboration and to mentoring younger researchers and engineers.
