Marco Bolignari

Marco Bolignari is a mechatronics engineer engaged in entrepreneurial and research activities in the field of robotics. He earned a PhD in Materials, Mechatronics and Systems Engineering from the University of Trento, where he developed innovative robotic systems for collaborative applications, mainly based on remote actuation solutions using hydrostatic transmissions.

During his academic career, he conducted research at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems in Stuttgart, within the Dynamic Locomotion Group, contributing to the development of series-elastic actuation solutions for bio-inspired robotic locomotion systems. He subsequently worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Mechanical Intelligence of the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna in Pisa, focusing on the design, construction and characterization of exoskeletons and robotic technologies for rehabilitation.

He is co-founder and CEO of Fluid Wire Robotics, a startup established through the technology transfer of his research results. The company develops advanced robotic systems designed to operate in extreme, hazardous or hard-to-reach environments, with applications in the industrial, nuclear, subsea and space sectors. In his role, he coordinates the company’s technological and industrial strategy, the development of its intellectual property, collaborations with institutional and industrial partners, and its growth path toward the commercialization of a new generation of reliable, scalable robotic manipulators suited to complex operational environments.
