Leopoldo Angrisani

Leopoldo Angrisani is Full Professor of Electrical and Electronic Measurements at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies of the University of Naples Federico II, Italy. He is Chair of the Board of the Ph.D. Program in ICT for Health and served for many years as General Manager of CeSMA (Center for Advanced Measurement and Technology Services) at the University of Naples Federico II. He currently chairs the Technical and Scientific Committee of MedITech, one of Italy's national Competence Centers for Industry 4.0 enabling technologies.
His research activity focuses on electrical and electronic measurement science, with particular emphasis on communication systems, digital signal processing, cyber-physical measurement systems, the Internet of Things, Industry 4.0, and Health 4.0. In recent years, his research has concentrated on the role of artificial intelligence in measurement science, uncertainty analysis in AI-based measurement processes, the impact of quantum technologies on measurement engineering, and sustainability-oriented metrology for ICT systems.
He has made pioneering contributions to metrology for wireless communication systems and has developed innovative measurement methodologies and instruments successfully transferred to industry through collaborations with leading national and international organizations, including Ericsson, NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Leonardo, MBDA, and Movyon. He has coordinated numerous high-technology industrial research projects, fostering effective technology transfer between academia and industry.
He has authored or co-authored approximately 350 scientific publications, including more than 140 papers in high-impact international journals, and is the inventor of several industrial patents. He has delivered keynote lectures at numerous international scientific conferences and is internationally recognized for his contributions to measurement science applied to information and communication technologies.
He is an IEEE Fellow (Instrumentation and Measurement Society and Communications Society) and a Fellow of the European Academy of Sciences. He serves as Chair of the Italian Electrical and Electronic Measurements Group (GMEE), Corresponding Member of the Accademia Pontaniana, Italy's oldest academy with nearly 600 years of history, and Chair of the Technical Committee on Quantum Technologies of the Italian Electrotechnical Committee (CEI). He received the IET Communications Premium Award in 2009, the prestigious IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society Technical Award in 2021, and the 2025 IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society Faculty Course Development Award for the design and development of the university course “Quantum Metrology and Sensors”.
